South Brunswick Charter School students returned to school on July 18, 2019 and were surprised by brand new school supplies. The Roger Bacon Academy, South Brunswick Charter School’s management company, distributed high quality binders (free of charge) to over 2,200 students in its family of four charter schools. Each binder includes the phrase “excellent work” to provide students with positive reinforcement. South Brunswick Charter School and The Roger Bacon Academy consider positive reinforcement to be one of the most effective methods in motivating students.

Dawn Ivey, Headmaster of South Brunswick Charter School, commented, “We are excited for our new school supplies! Students love using them for reading, writing, math, science and Latin! We are so happy to be part of The Roger Bacon Academy charter school family!” “

South Brunswick Charter School is one of four charter schools managed by The Roger Bacon Academy, Inc. founded in 1999 by education pioneer Baker Mitchell. The other schools include Charter Day School in Leland, Douglass Academy in Wilmington, and Columbus Charter School in Whiteville with a combined enrollment of over 2,100 students in K-8. All four are tuition-free, charter schools that welcome all students, regardless of income, ability, or address.  To learn more or enroll online, please visit
